FANTASY FOOTBALL WIDOWS NEED NOT WEEP

A lot has been written this week about "Fantasy Football Widows" - wives or girlfriends who are losing their husbands/boyfriends to all-consuming fantasy football teams.  I am one of those women, but, this season, I don't plan to sit around and mope about it.  I will take advantage of it - and you should, too.  Fellow "Football Widows" - here's how to tackle and take advantage of the season - for your sake.

He's home watching football every Sunday afternoon?  That is found free time for you!
  •  Leave the kids with him, make some plans with girlfriends or just get out of the house and enjoy some time alone.
  •  Leave him a list of things to do/fix around the house before and after the game (and during commercials).

  •  Start something great for dinner that has to simmer but that you never seem to have time to watch... and have him stir and supervise it, since he's there anyway - like chili or a great soup.

  •  Have him switch or fold the laundry.

  •  Barter for a great Lifetime movie that you can watch on Saturday afternoons, undisturbed.

  •  Anyone have any other ideas?  Comment on this page!
Finally, there may just be a fun way for you to get involved, a tiny bit, if you want to.  Last season, for me, that was helping design his helmet and colors online.  Sounds silly, but I got a quick glimpse into his fantasy football world. You know what?  That five minutes was enough for me.  As this season kicks in, i'm excited about just how much independence his dependence on football will give me!
